Songs about life, love, loss, social strife, misplaced passion, self-mockery, iconoclasm, hope, and the hydrological cycle
This is how it started. A solo piece about uncertainty in a time of upheaval. I wish it were less true today than it was when it first appeared.
Maybe we're all one foot in the moment, one foot in the grave. And maybe this song can help remind us that there is hope for brightness in dark times.
With K-Bro on electric bass, J-Ball on mandolin, Lyndsey Olish on tambourine. Everyone on vocals.
We recorded this for the November 2020 Cavalcade Online Variety Show and shot it inside the actual Cavalcade Fruita, with proper social distancing and masks. The December Show opened on December 19, and you can see it at www.cavalcadefruita.com. Join us for some cover songs and some intimate small town entertainment. Tori MIner, piano and vocals. Kenton, violin. K-Bro, bass.
A man is desperate to build a wall and then finds himself trapped behind it. K-Bro and I dashed off this quick and dirty recording of a tune we've been playing for a couple years. Enjoy and ponder.
A ghost song for October. We explore the brevity of life and the vain hope for immortality through a character who may not be happy about either.
K-Bro haunts the electric bass.
Sing along with this hymn for people who sing hymns or who have never sung a hymn.
A song of love, loss, and the hydrological cycle.
K-Bro on electric bass.
Can you only hear The Uncomfortable Plateau in Fruita, Colorado? Maybe. We reliably perform most every Thursday at Cavalcade in Fruita, Colorado. And monthly, second Saturday (usually), also at Cavalcade. This band is not waiting around to Make It Big, but is charing ahead, Making It Little by sharing music and the passion for good songs in a spunky little town in Western Colorado. Learn more about Cavalcade events at their FB page.
Our big plan has been to enjoy making and sharing live music in a small venue. We don’t really know what we have here. It’s just a seed we're nurturing into a sprout. We’ll keep a little water and sunshine in play and see what grows. For now, we'll try posting a few video songs and see if people come to listen. If you get some satisfaction from what you hear, we would love it if you share us with a few friends. Or maybe join us for one of the Cavalcade events. Thanks.
We like to make music. The impulse of our songwriter and the careful shepherding of our bass player form the foundation. Other musicians join us when appropriate. We bring a variety of sounds and thoughtful lyrics to listening audiences in what we hope is a form of communication between players, audience and back again.
